Active Sound

Active Sound (

63°25′S 56°10′W / 63.417°S 56.167°W / -63.417; -56.167Coordinates: 63°25′S 56°10′W / 63.417°S 56.167°W / -63.417; -56.167) is a sound, averaging 2 miles (3 km) wide, extending in an east-northeast direction from Antarctic Sound and joining the Firth of Tay with which it separates Joinville and Dundee Islands. Discovered in 1892–93 by Captain of the Dundee whaling expedition. Robertson named the feature after his ship, the , first vessel to navigate the sound.
