Ali Shah Chak was a ruler of Kashmir and father of Yousuf Shah Chak.[1] He ruled from 1570 AD to 1578 AD. The origins of the Chaks are unclear, some claim they were originally were Dards, residents of the Gilgit- Hunza area. They successfully resisted the attempts of Babur and Humayun to annex Kashmir.[2] He dethroned Hassan Shah Chak in 1570 AD and became the new king of Kashmir.[3] He died in 1578 AD and was buried in Srinagar, Kashmir.[4]
