Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi (born 2 Dec 1977 as "Nallamuththu Poyyamozhi" )[1] is an Indian politician serving as the Minister for School Education in Tamil Nadu and in charge for Trichy district-South (Trichy east, Thiruverumbur & Manapparai constituencies) of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam party.[2] He was the Member of Legislative Assembly from 2016 – 2021. He served as the State Secretary of DMK Youth Wing from 2014 – 2019.

Personal life[]

He did his schooling in Trichy ER Higher Secondary School & he completed his Master's in Computer Application (MCA) in Bishop Heber College Tiruchirappalli in April 2001.After working as a software developer in various IT sectors for a decade, he joined the DMK party following the legacy of his family who served in the party. He is the elder son of former Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) MLA Anbil Poyyamozhi & grandson of former Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) Minister Anbil P. Dharmalingam. His uncle Anbil Periyasamy is also a politician & former MLA of the DMK party. He is well known friend to Udhayanidhi Stalin who is the current Youth Wing secretary of DMK party and Member of Legislative Assembly from Chepauk-Triplicane constituency. It is a friendship between two families that span for decades. Beginning with the grandfathers Anbil P.Dharmalingam and M.Karunanidhi; then the fathers Anbil Poyyamozhi and MK Stalin; And now the sons Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi and Udhayanithi Stalin-the bond they share for three generations is widely known in the political circle.

Political career[]

He started his political life as a party worker in the year 2000. He actively took part in various party activities and was appointed as the Youth Wing Secretary in 2014. He was elected as a Member of Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly from Thiruverumbur constituency in 2016.[3][4][5][6] He was again elected as MLA in May 2021 from Thiruverumbur constituency consecutively and appointed as the School Education Minister of Tamil Nadu.
