Anirudh Devgan, Ph.D is a computer scientist and business executive. Devgan is currently president and CEO of Cadence Design Systems, having been Cadence’s president since 2017.[1][2] He joined Cadence’s board of directors effective Aug 2, 2021.[3]

Devgan received a Bachelor of Technology degree in electrical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical and computer engineering from Carnegie Mellon University.[4] He holds 27 U.S. patents.[5]

Career History[]

Devgan became Cadence’s president and CEO in December 2021; he was previously Cadence’s president since 2017,[3] after having joined Cadence in 2012 from Magma Design Automation[6] where he worked as General Manager and Corporate Vice President of Magma’s Custom Design Business Unit.[7]

Anirudh worked at International Business Machines Corporation (IBM)[8] for 12 years in management and research at the IBM Thomas J. Watson Research Center, IBM Server Division, IBM Microelectronics Division, and IBM Austin Research Lab.

Devgan was the recipient of the 1999 IBM Outstanding Research Accomplishment Award and IBM Outstanding Innovation Award, the 2000 IBM Corporate Award, the IBM Microelectronics Division's Excellence Award in 2001. He has also received the IEEE William J. Macalla Best Paper Award at the International Conference on Computer-Aided Design in 2003[9]

In 2005, he received the best paper award for back-end design at the Design Automation Conference,[10] and was named IEEE Fellow in 2006.[11]

In 2021, Devgan received the Phil Kaufman award, given by SEMI's ESD Alliance to individuals who have made a demonstrable impact on electronic design.[12]

Biography[]

Anirudh was born in New Delhi, India on the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi campus where his father was a professor of mathematics and statistics. Currently, he resides in Silicon Valley with his wife and two kids.
