Anukriti Gusain (born 25 March 1994) is  a Former miss India and an active social worker, putting all her efforts to uplift the women and children in Uttarakhand. Irrespective of her education and glamorous beauty, fashion and media carrier she has devoted her life to improve the life of villagers and women in Uttarakhand. She is crowned Miss Asia Pacific World India 2014 and represented India at Miss  Asia Pacific  World in 2014  and Bride of the World India 2013. She made a comeback to pageantry in 2017, when she won Femina Miss India Uttarakhand 2017 and represented India in miss grand international in Vietnam. She has a different attachment to Uttarakhand, and according to her if the right direction is given, every child of Uttarakhand will be ahead in every field because Uttarakhand has huge potential and success has to be given flight and a boost. And this is the reason, that today she has left the dazzling world to start fulfilling her dream, i.e. towards making her state recognized in women empowerment . She always tries her best to present the pahadi culture globally. Since childhood, her mantra was to 'NEVER LOSE COURAGE' that is why she has given courage to thousands of women today to do something of their own and walk on the path of success. To work for women and children she started a NGO named Mahila Utthan Evam Bal Kalyan Sansthan and is skilling  thousands of women to make them self reliant and financially independent.

Early life and education[]

Anukriti was born in Lansdowne of Pauri Garhwal district in north Indian state of Uttarakhand, She is from village Kandoli. She is the first of the three children of Uttam Singh Gusain and Narmada Devi.^[2][3] Anukriti has completed her schooling from Army Public School, Lansdowne. Then she graduated from DIT Dehradun pursed her Engineering from computer science.

Femina Miss India[]

Femina Miss India Delhi 2013 was a regional pageant for participation Internationally. She won Femina Miss India Delhi 2013. She won two sub titles there including Femina Miss Timeless Beauty and Femina Miss Glowing Skin.

Gusain was one of the top 5 finalist of Femina Miss India 2013,^[4] which was held in Mumbai on 24 March 2013. Gusain has also titled with Miss Beautiful Smile^[5] and Miss Photogenic^[6] in Sub Contest Awards of Miss India 2013. Gusain is winner of Pond’s Femina Miss India Delhi 2013, there were 14 finalists in the last round of Pond’s Femina Miss India Delhi 2013.^[7] In addition to winning the competition, she also won PCJ Femina Miss Timeless Beauty and Pond's Femina Miss Glowing skin.

Miss Supertalent of the World[]

She was crowned Femina Miss India 2014 and represented India at Miss Supertalent of the World 2014 held at Grand Hilton Hotels in Seoul, Korea and was crowned the 4th Runner up.^[8] Gusain wore gold gowns, a cocktail sari and a bodysuit for the main event designed by Raakesh Agarvwal.^[9]

Miss Grand International 2017[]

Anukriti represented India at Miss Grand International 2017. She was considered as one of the top contenders for the pageant. Being consistent in all the activities, she won people's hearts. She was able to earn a spot in top 20 at the pageant which was held in Vietnam on 25 September 2017, but was not able to go further. Apart from this, she was a top 10 for best in national costume and swimsuit competition.

Awards[]

• She is awarded, Mahatma Gandhi Samman 2014 for representing India in International beauty pageant.
• Award from Uttarakhand Film Association to felicitated for her contribution in respective creative field.^[10]

Social work[]

• Her NGO is running several skill training centre to skill the women of Uttarakhand. The centre provide free skill training and entrepreneurship opportunities in various fields like food processing, general duty assistant, COVID CARE Frontline Workers, agriculture, mason tiling, floriculture, hospitality, etc and has employed several people through these schemes.
• She has also introduced mushroom farming to the local people of Lansdowne & Kotdwar so that they can benefit from it and can be self employed.
• Many women are associated with her NGO and are now earning a livelihood for their family and providing a better life for their children.
• She has started YELLOW HILLS as a lifestyle brand where she is supporting rural women and small businesses of Uttarakhand.
• There are many self-help groups or SHGs in Uttarakhand who are using traditional methods to make handicrafts so as an active social worker Anukriti Gusain wants to preserve bhimal fibre handcrafted products which is unrecognised by many and wants to encourage the artisans by promoting their products and giving them an online platform to expand their reach of customers. She is first to give an online platform to handcrafted products made by bhimal fibre.
• She is associated with several NGOs and supported the Bring Back Our Girls campaign during Miss Asia Pacific World 2014.
• She is associated with many self-employed women who are working with us as our vendors and making things like bhimal mats, baskets, slippers, jute bags, bamboo baskets and pahadi namak. This is our small initiative to support women entrepreneur.
• In the present year, when she visited a backward village named Rinknikhal where the villagers told her the problem of drought in the village so she arranged a water tanker for almost a month for all the villagers.
• Every year on Children’s Day she provides uniform, books and bags to financially challenged children.
• Also, she has supported education of around 100 children giving them uniform, books and bags for school.
• She distributed sanitary napkins to all the girls in a school at Ballupur and explained the need of physical hygiene.
• Adopted many kids in Kotdwar and she is supporting their education.
• Arranged marriages of several girls whose families with weak financial background.
• Thousands of families were offered food packages, medical & sanitization packages during the harsh time of COVID19.
• Opened many free IT training centres for rural youth in Kotdwar to stop migration among local youth.
