Ariska Putri Pertiwi (born in Lhokseumawe, 13 January 1995) is an Indonesian talk show host,[3][4] doctor,[5][6] philanthropist, model and beauty pageant titleholder who won Puteri Indonesia Perdamaian 2016,[13][14][15] She had a chance to represent Indonesia at Miss Grand International 2016 pageant,[22] and later crowned Miss Grand International 2016 in Westgate Las Vegas, Nevada – United States of America.[16][17][18] She is the first Indonesian woman, Asian woman and Muslim woman to win the Miss Grand International title.[23][24][25][26]

Life and career[]

Ariska was born in Lhokseumawe, Aceh, Indonesia, with the Batak background from her parents,[27][28] she was born in an army family where her father has been an Indonesian National Armed Forces Officer since 1990s.[22][6] On 2016, She holds a magister degree in Doctor of Medicine from Faculty of Medicine of from University of North Sumatra in Medan, North Sumatra, Indonesia.[1][2] Ariska is the eldest of two siblings, she has a younger sister named Quinanta Claudia Syafira.[22]

On 1 February 2019, She is married to Indonesian politician and businessman Tengku Muhammad Ryan Novandi[7][8][9] in Maimun Palace, Medan, North Sumatra, Indonesia.[26] On 8 December 2019, Ariska giving birth to her only daughter, Tengku Kyara Khanza Putri.[10][11][12]

Puteri Indonesia 2016[]

On 19 February 2016, Ariska represented the North Sumatra province at Puteri Indonesia 2016.[27][28] Ariska was crowned Puteri Indonesia Perdamaian 2016[13] at the finals held at the Jakarta Convention Center, Jakarta, by the outgoing predecessor of Puteri Indonesia Perdamaian 2015 and Top 15 Miss Eco Universe 2016 Syarifah Olvah Bwefar Alhamid of West Papua.[14][15][31]

Miss Grand International 2016[]

Ariska represented Indonesia in Miss Grand International 2016 at the in Westgate Las Vegas, Nevada – the United States of America.[16][17][18] Ariska won the competition and was crowned Miss Grand International 2016 was held on 25 October 2016 by the outgoing titleholder Miss Grand International 2016, Claire Elizabeth Pearl Parker of Australia.[16][17][18] She is the first titleholder from Indonesia and the first from Asia as well as the first Muslim woman to win Miss Grand International title.[23][24][25][32]

Beside winning the crown, she is also manage to won the "Best National Costume" special award,[33][34][35] She wore a national costume called "Royal Sigokh" inspired by Indonesia's traditional headdress from Lampung called Sigokh.[19][20][21][6]

During the final question for all five finalists was, "If you could choose between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump for "Stop the War and Violence Campaign", which would you choose and what would be your message to them?"[36][37] Ariska winning answer in full:[38][39][40]

If I had the opportunity to change the world from violence, I would vote for Hillary Clinton, Hillary is a person who could help to fight violence. Why? Because she is a very smart, independent and brave woman, So I choose her to work together with me and Miss Grand International Organization to Stop the War and Violence.

Her court included Nicole Cordoves of the Philippines (first runner-up), Supaporn Malisorn of Thailand (second runner-up), Madison Anderson of Puerto Rico (third runner-up) and Michelle León of the United States of America (fourth runner-up).[41][42]

In her capacity as Miss Grand International 2016, Ariska has traveled to China,[43] Ukraine,[30] the Netherlands,[44] United States of America,[45] Palestine,[45] Tanzania,[45] Laos,[45] Vietnam,[45] Cambodia,[46] various cities within Thailand,[45] and her home country of Indonesia.[45] Ariska ended her reign on 25 October 2017 in Phú Quốc Island, Vietnam, the host nation of the Miss Grand International 2017 pageant. She eventually crowned Maria Jose Lora of Peru as her successor.[47][29][48]

Ariska has presenting on several variety talk show,[49][50][51] after returning to Indonesia, a year later Ariska received an offer to hosting Infotainment-talk show directed by Trans TV entitled "Insert",[3][4][52] hosting together with Indra Herlambang and Patricia Gouw.[3][4][52]
