Babis Intzoglou (born 1 April 1949) is a Greek former footballer who played as a defender, and made appearances for the Greece national football team.

Career[]

Intzoglou played at the youth level with SA Nice, and signed his first professional deal in 1965 with Ionikos F.C.. In 1969, he played in the Alpha Ethniki with Panionios F.C..[1][2] Throughout his tenure with Panionios he assisted in securing the 1971 Balkans Cup for Panionios by defeating KF Besa Kavajë.[3] Throughout his tenure with Panionios he featured in the 1969–70 Inter-Cities Fairs Cup, and the 1971–72 UEFA Cup. In the summer of 1975 he played abroad in the National Soccer League with Toronto Homer.[4]

In 1976, he signed with AEK Athens F.C., and managed to assist the club in winning the league title in the 1977-78 season, and the double in 1978-79.[5][6] He featured in the 1976–77 UEFA Cup, and once more in the 1977–78 UEFA Cup. He also participated in the 1978–79 European Cup, and 1979–80 European Cup for Athens. In 1980, he played with Diagoras F.C., and later returned to former club Ionikos in 1983.[7]

International career[]

Intzoglou played with the Greece national football team in 1969, and made nine appearances.[8]

Personal life[]

Intzoglou's brothers Thanasis and Christos were also footballers, and is the father to Lefteris Intzoglou.[9]
