Berkshire and Eastern Railroad (B&E)[1] is a proposed shortline railroad to be jointly owned by CSX Transportation (CSXT) and Norfolk Southern Railway (NS),[2] operated and maintained by the Pittsburg and Shawmut Railroad (PSR).[1]

If approved by the Surface Transportation Board, PSR — doing business as B&E — will operate and maintain the rail lines currently owned by Pan Am Southern and operated by Pan Am Railways.[2]

Implementation of the proposal is contingent on Surface Transportation Board approval of CSX's proposed purchase of Pan Am Systems.[1]
