The Billboard Music Award for Top Songs Sales Artist was first presented at the 2016 Billboard Music Awards. The Weeknd was the award's first recipient. Drake is the most-awarded artist in this category having won twice, in 2017 and 2019. Drake is also the most-nominated artist, together with Post Malone and The Weeknd — all three artists have been nominated three times each. BTS is the first group and the first Korean artist in BBMA history to win the award, doing so at the 2021 ceremony.
