Twenty years ago,[when?] Bird & Bird had an office in London with small offices in Brussels and Hong Kong. After a period of rapid international expansion, today it has 29 offices across 19 countries. Of the firm's 29 offices, 22 were launched since 2000 and well over half of the firm’s partners are based outside the UK.[citation needed]
On the 12 January 1856, at the age of 40 William Frederick Wratislaw Bird was admitted to Gray's Inn, the only surviving son of George Ryder Bird.[2]
In 2017, it lost a negligence appeal over a £26m property.[3][4]
