Brassmunk released a number of independent singles in the late 1990s and early 2000s, and released their first EP, Dark Sunrise, in 2002 on 54th/Virgin Music Canada.[1] The following year, Dark Sunrise was re-released worldwide on Battleaxe Records as an LP, and included their previous independent releases.
