British Equestrian is the national governing body of equestrian sport in Great Britain and represents the country at the International Federation for Equestrian Sports (FEI).[1]

The British Equestrian Federation became British Equestrian in April 2020.

Purpose[]

The BEF is an umbrella.[2]

Together with the British Horseracing Authority and the , the BEF forms the British Horse Industry Confederation.[3]

Chairman[]

Each BEF chairman stands for a period of three years, with a maximum of two terms. The current chairman is (interim chair, 2020), with previous chairmen including Badminton Horse Trials organiser Hugh Thomas.

Membership[]

The BEF is formed of eighteen (fifteen full, three associate) independent member bodies who represent the various equestrian sports.[4]
