Cambium Learning Group is an American technology company which creates computer software and hardware products serving students ranging from pre-kindergarten to adult; and enabling educators who help them learn. As of December 2018, it is owned by Veritas Capital, a New York-based private equity firm.[1]
The company's business units are Learning A-Z, Lexia Learning, Voyager Sopris, ExploreLearning, Cambium Assessment, Kurzweil Education, and VKidz:[2]
- Learning A-Z – Personalized instructional tools for Pre K-6 education in reading, writing, science, and vocabulary.
- Lexia Learning – Blended learning solutions for educators to personalize learning for every student.
- Voyager Sopris – Innovative, evidence-based instructional intervention solutions and teacher professional development services.
- ExploreLearning – Interactive online math and science simulations for education in grades 3–12.[3]
- Cambium Assessment – Statewide, district, and school level K-12 assessments.
- – Reading, study skill, and writing support software for learners and text-to-speech software for the blind/visually-impaired (grade 3-adult)
- Time4Learning – Curriculum and supplementary programs for homeschool families and elementary schools. Originally known as Vkidz, but it was subsequently renamed Time4Learning for its primary product.
Cambium acquired Voyager Sopris Learning (formerly Voyager Learning Company) in December 2009.[4] Cambium Assessment (formerly AIR Assessment) was acquired in January 2020.[5] Kurzweil Education (formerly Kurzweil Educational Systems) was bought in April 2005. [6][7] VKidz was acquired in December 2018.[1]
In September 2020, in an all-cash deal, Cambium bought Rosetta Stone with an equity valuation of approximately $792 million. The acquisition would broaden Cambium's immersive learning services for students, administrators and individuals.[8]
