Capitán Sarmiento is a town in Buenos Aires Province, Argentina. It is the head town of the Capitán Sarmiento Partido.
History[]
The town and partido were established by provincial law on 21 December 1961. It was named after , son of former President Domingo Faustino Sarmiento. First founded by the Cruz rich family.
After a 1995 contest by the Buenos Aires Undersecretary of Culture, to select the flag that would identify the province, and having chosen the design of a group of five boys from Capitán Sarmiento, the then Governor Duhalde signed a decree declaring the town "Cradle of the Buenos Aires flag".
