Carl Anthony Fisher, SSJ (November 24, 1945 – September 2, 1993) was a Roman Catholic bishop in the United States. He was the first Black Catholic bishop on the West Coast.^[1]

Biography[]

Born in Pascagoula, Mississippi, Fisher was ordained to the priesthood for the Josephite Fathers on June 2, 1973. He served in Baltimore for some time, including at Historic St Francis Xavier beginning in 1982.^[1]

On December 23, 1986, he was appointed titular bishop of Tlos and auxiliary bishop of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Los Angeles and was consecrated on February 23, 1987.

He died of colon cancer while in office, at the age of 47.^[2]
