The Center for Agroecology & Sustainable Food Systems (CASFS) is an agriculture research center within the Division of Social Sciences at the University of California, Santa Cruz.[1]

CASFS was founded in 1967 by Alan Chadwick The university had hired to create a Student Garden Project (now the Alan Chadwick Garden) on its new campus.[2] CASFS manages the 3-acre garden and a 30-acre farm located at the base of the UCSC campus.[3]

CASFS center is known for its Apprenticeship in Ecological Horticulture program which provides training in the concepts and practices of organic gardening and small-scale farming.[4] Other programs offered by CASFS include undergraduate internships, on-farm research, farm tours, gardening workshops, and programs for K-12 students.[5]
