Chandigarh University (CU) is an Indian private university located in (Gharuan) Mohali, Punjab, India, near Chandigarh. The university was established in 2012 by the Punjab State Legislature and is recognized by University Grants Commission under Section 2(F) with the right to confer degrees as per Section 22(1) of the UGC Act, 1956.[2] Satnam Singh Sandhu serves as the University's chancellor.[3] In the year 2020, the university became first single institution in India for filing highest no of patents.[4] In the year 2019 Chandigarh University was accredited status 'A+' by NAAC.[5] The university is rated 'DIAMOND' in QS I-Gauge framework.[6]

Academics[]

Chandigarh University offers various undergraduate, post-graduate and doctorate degrees in various disciplines including engineering, management, computing, cognitive sciences, education, animation and multimedia, tourism, pharma sciences, biotechnology, architecture, commerce, legal studies, agricultural science, media studies, liberal arts and basic sciences.[7]

The university offers more than 40 courses[8] and it's academia revolves around the Flexible Choice Based Credit System (FCBCS), which allows students to choose from electives in their own discipline, related fields and open electives, and allows credits transfer through semester abroad programs.[9]

The National Institutional Ranking Framework ranked Chandigarh University 84 in the engineering category[12] and 51 in the management category,[13] as per the rankings released in June 2020.

The campus of Chandigarh University resides in (Gharuan) Mohali, on the Chandigarh-Ludhiana Highway (NH-95).
