Channa Jayasumana

Channa Jayasumana is a Sri Lankan politician, a member of the Parliament of Sri Lanka. He belongs to the Sri Lanka Freedom Party. He is a physician by profession.

He holds professional qualifications MBBS from University of Peradeniya, PhD[citation needed] and FRCP Edin.[citation needed]

He has done research on drinking water, occupational exposure to herbicides and its association with chronic kidney disease.[1]

This research was originally initiated with the guidance received from the Natha Deviyo/නාථ දෙයියෝ (God Natha). [2] Due to the dubious and questionable nature of the source of the said divine guidance received from Natha the GOD, fair criticisms were raised from the scientific community. [3]


He held the position of Professor, Faculty of Medicine Rajarata University of Sri Lanka.

He was appointed state minister of Pharmaceutical Production, Supply and Regulation in 2020.[4]

He was appointed as Acting Minister of Health on 16 February 2021 [5]
