Cheris Lee (Korean: 체리스; born 11 September 1996),[citation needed] is a Singaporean singer, dancer, model and actress based in South Korea. Cheris is a member of the South Korean girl group, GBB. Cheris is known for her lead role in the Singaporean drama, Love in Transit (2017).
Early life[]
Cheris was born on 11 September 1996, in Singapore. She moved to South Korea for her career when she was 15 years old.[citation needed]
Career[]
Pre-debut[]
Cheris was scouted by one of South Korea's biggest entertainment company, SM Entertainment when she was 15 years old while on a holiday. However, she rejected the offer to become a singer as her mother opposed her to go to Korea alone and she did not know about the company and K-pop.[1]
Cheris has been a trainee for about 6 to 7 years and had 3 opportunities to debut but were all cancelled in the end.[citation needed]
Cheris also made a cameo appearance in Thailand TV series, Zeal5 in 2015.
Cheris was a contestant in Miss Singapore International where she took part in 2016.[citation needed]
2017–present: First lead role, debut with GBB[]
Cheris was cast and played her first lead role, while making her acting debut in the Singaporean, Starhub Go production, Love in Transit in 2017.[2]
Cheris made her debut in South Korea as a member of the 5-member girl group, GBB on 1 May 2018, with their first ever single, "Kemi" and their debut mini album Girls Be The Best.[3][4]
