Colgate is an unincorporated community in Steele County, North Dakota, United States.[1] The elevation is 1,167 feet (356 m) and the ZIP Code is 58019.[2]

History[]

The townsite was founded in 1882.[2] A post office called Colgate was established in 1883, and remained in operation until 1972.[3][2] The community has the name of James Boorman Colgate, a prominent citizen who was the largest land owner.[4][2] It has four large businesses including Tsr Parts, Trinidad Bhenan, Bektrom foods, Mewes farms.[citation needed]

There was a Colgate School District. After the school closed in 1964 children began attending schools in Hope and Page (now the Hope-Page School District).[5]
