Route 502 (also known as Silver Lane, Spencer Street, and West Center Street), is a 6.31-mile-long (10.15 km) State Road in central Connecticut, running from Route 2 in East Hartford to U.S. Route 44 (US 44) in Manchester.

Route description[]

Route 502 begins at an intersection with Connecticut Route 2 in the western portion of the town of East Hartford. Note that commuters on Route 502 can only get on Route 2 southbound, and commuters on Route 2 can only get on Route 502 from Route 2 northbound. In East Hartford, Route 502 is also known as Silver Lane. Route 502 heads east for a quarter of a mile (0.4 km) before intersecting with Route 15. Note that this is the first of two intersections with Route 15, and that commuters on Route 502 can only get on Route 15 westbound. From Route 15, the road runs 0.2 miles (0.32 km) to an intersection with US 5. From US 5, it runs east for a quarter of a mile before intersecting with the Route 15 southbound on-ramp. The road then passes under Route 15, before intersecting with the northbound off-ramp. Route 502 then runs east half a mile before intersecting with the Interstate 84 (I-84) on-ramp. The road heads east, for 0.4 miles (0.64 km) before intersecting with the US 6 on-ramp. The road heads east again, passing over Willow Creek and passing Rentschler Field to the south side of the road. The road heads east for 2.2 miles (3.5 km) before entering the town of Manchester. About 0.1 kilometres (0.10 km) later, the road intersects with I-384 at exit 1. The road heads east for about a mile before intersecting with Olcott Street/Hartford Road. At the intersection, Route 502 becomes West Center Street. From the intersection, the road heads east for 1.3 miles (2.1 km) before it intersects with US 44 and US 6 and ends.

History[]

In 1964, when the Road Reclassification Act was passed, Silver Lane, Spencer Street, and West Center Street were given the highway designation of SR 810. In 1993, Route 810 was extended from US 5 to Route 2, and its designation was changed to Route 502.^{[citation needed]}
