DXCJ (102.3 FM), broadcasting as Barangay FM 102.3 (or Barangay FM 102.3 Super Radyo), is a radio station owned and operated by GMA Network subsidiary Radio GMA. The station's studio and transmitter are located at the 3rd floor of PBC Building, Cagampang St., General Santos.[1][2]

History[]

1997-2014: Campus Radio[]

Campus Radio was established in General Santos in 1997. It bared its first slogan "Always and Forever". In 2001, the slogan was changed into "Kuyawa Ui!" (shocking), because of the series of bombings in Gensan last 2003 and the negative effects of the slogan on the station. The team decided to modify it into "Wow! Nindutah Ah!", which is also used in 103.5 Campus Radio Davao until today. From 2010 to 2012, its slogan was "The Best!", which was the slogan used by its flagship station back in the 80s. In 2012, it changed its slogan to "Ayos!", a Filipino expression that is basically a positive response.[3][4]

2014-present: Barangay FM[]

On February 17, 2014, Campus Radio was relaunched as Barangay 102.3 as part of RGMA's brand unification. A hostage-taking took place on December 21, 2014, when a certain Gabby Batican entered the station to use the telephone to ask for help as someone allegedly threatened to kill him The radio station employees called the police after they grew suspicious of Batican is the cousin of one of the station's disc jockey (DJ Angel) Batican could have been under the influence of illegal drugs when he held the victims' hostage The hostage drama lasted for more than an hour.[5][6]

Relaunch as Barangay FM Super Radyo[]

In 2021, Barangay FM General Santos was relaunched as a music and news station called Barangay FM 102.3 General Santos, similar to Barangay RU 92.9 Super Radyo in Kalibo, Aklan. It marked the return of the Super Radyo brand in General Santos formerly held by the now-defunct DXBB-AM this time on the FM band. It also aired DZBB programs as well as the simulcast of 24 Oras and Saksi.
