Donovan Danhausen, better known mononymously as Danhausen, is an American professional wrestler, best known for his time spent in Ring of Honor.[5] He was previously known for his tenure with Full Impact Pro (FIP).[6]

Professional wrestling career[]

Independent circuit (2013–present)[]

Danhausen was trained to wrestle by Jimmy Jacobs and Truth Martini and made his professional wrestling debut on October 18, 2013, becoming known for sticking to a gimmick illustrated by his spooky attire and painted face. He competed at BLP Slamilton 2, an event produced by Black Label Pro Wrestling, where he teamed up with Ethan Page and Swoggle to defeat Blood Diamond (Jake Lander, Joshua Bishop and Tre Lamar) for the BLP Tag Team Championship.[7] He competed for Capital City Championship Combat at C4 Combat Shock - 12th Anniversary on November 21, 2019, where he defeated Tony Deppen.[8] At FU/Freelance I Don't Think We're In Chicago Anymore from October 10, 2020, an event produced by Freelance Underground Wrestling, he teamed up with Warhorse as Warhausen, defeating The Brothers Of Funstruction (Ruffo The Clown and Yabo The Clown) by disqualification, therefore failing to capture the FU Tag Team Championship.[9] At F1RST Wrestling Saturday Night Nitro, an event produced by F1RST Wrestling on March 7, 2020, Danhausen fought Orange Cassidy into a no-contest.[10]

Ring of Honor (2019–2021)[]

Danhausen made his first appearance for Ring Of Honor at ROH Wrestling #429 on November 2, 2019, where he unsuccessfully challenged Shane Taylor for the ROH World Television Championship.[11] He continued to make sporadic appearances such as at ROH Wrestling #437 where he fell short to Rhett Titus on January 11, 2020,[12] and at ROH Honor Reigns Supreme 2020 on January 12, where he scored a defeat against Dak Draper.[13] At ROH Free Enterprise on February 9, 2020, Danhausen participated in a 20-man battle royal to determine the no.1 contendership for the ROH World Championship, where he competed against the winner Flip Gordon, Gangrel, PJ Black, Tracy Williams and others.[14] At ROH Final Battle 2020 on December 18, he defeated Brian Johnson by disqualification, earning him an ROH contract.[15] At ROH 19th Anniversary Show on March 26, 2021, Danhausen competed in a four-way match, falling short to the winner, Brian Johnson, Eli Isom and LSG.[16]

All Elite Wrestling[]

Following a legitimate leg injury and Ring of Honor's announcement of taking a hiatus in 2022, Danhausen began to offer commentary on Twitter of ongoing wrestling programs on TV. This included All Elite Wrestling, despite having yet to appear on TV or being acknowledged on their programs. In November 2021 Danhausen began a Twitter feud with the Gunn Club, referring to Colten Gunn and Austin Gunn as the "Ass Boys", in reference to their father Billy Gunn's infamous "Mr. Ass" gimmick in the Attitude Era of WWE. While Billy Gunn himself initially had no comment, the rest of Gunn Club despised the nickname after fans began chanting "Ass Boys" during their matches on AEW programming. Billy Gunn finally commented when he surprised his sons by wearing an "Ass Boys" shirt, encouraging them to "embrace the assness" and even started teasing mooning the crowd again. Billy Gunn also thanked Danhausen publicly for getting his sons over in a way that he couldn't.[17] AEW president Tony Khan responded to fan requests for AEW to sign Danhausen, saying that it was a situation to "keep an eye on".[18]

Professional wrestling style and persona[]

Danhausen has described his character as "Conan O'Brien got possessed by a demon". The character believes he has supernatural powers, such as shooting lightning from his fingers. The voice for his character is based on O'Brien and Mark Hamill's Joker.[19] Danhausen often refers to himself in the third person and also adds the suffix "-hausen" to words. He also often describes himself as very nice, very evil.[20] Danhausen is also known for nonchalantly dancing the "Pee-wee dance" to the tune of "Tequila" by The Champs in the middle of matches, much like Pee-wee Herman.[21]

Personal life[]

Since 2018, Danhausen has been married to Canadian burlesque dancer Lauren Jiles, who is known professionally as Lou Lou la Duchesse de Rière. He is stepfather to Jiles' daughter.[22][23]

Other Works[]

Danhausen launched a signature coffee blend with Rootless Coffee Co. in 2021 called "Danhausen Coffeehausen."
