Daniel John Felton (born February 5, 1955) is an American priest of the Catholic Church who serves as bishop for the Diocese of Duluth.

Biography[]

He was born on February 5, 1955 in Portsmouth, Virginia[2] to Carol and Ken Felton.[1] He has four younger siblings.[1] Felton went to grade school at St. Edwards in Mackville, Wisconsin and Appleton West High School in Appleton, Wisconsin.[3] He went to college at St. Norbert College and graduated with a bachelor's degrees in Psychology and Religious Studies in 1977.[2] Felton received his Master of Theology degree from St. John's University in 1981.[2] After ordination, he received a master's degree in Social Communications from Pontifical Gregorian University and a Licentiate in Sacred Theology in Dogmatic Theology in 1990.[2]

On June 13, 1981, Felton was ordained to the priesthood.[2] Felton served as a priest in the Diocese of Green Bay.[3] He served as a parish priest for churches in Manitowoc, Oshkosh, Mackville, and Greenville.[3] In June 2014, Felton was named vicar general and moderator of the curia for the Green Bay Diocese.[3]

Pope Francis appointed Felton bishop for the Diocese of Duluth on April 7, 2021.[4][5] On May 20, 2021, Felton was consecrated as a bishop by Archbishop Hebda, and Bishops Ricken and Paprocki.
