Election results for Parramatta, New South Wales, Australia
Parramatta, an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of New South Wales, has continuously existed since the establishment of the Legislative Assembly in 1855.[1][2][3][4]
Parramatta was expanded to include part of the abolished seat of Ryde. The member for Parramatta was Tom Moxham (Liberal Reform). The member for Ryde was Edward Terry (Independent Liberal) who did not contest the election.

The election of William Ferris was overturned by the Election and Qualifications Committee due to "many gross irregularities". Ferris was not the endorsed candidate for the 1898 election, however was endorsed for the by-election.[48]

The other sitting member Henry Parker did not contest the election. James Byrnes was the member for Cumberland (South Riding). James Pye petitioned against the election alleging his supporters had been intimidated from voting, however this was dismissed as unproven.

Polling was conducted on 29 March 1856. Both Parker and Oakes had served in the old Legislative Council, Oakes representing Town of Parramatta and Parker as an appointed member.
