On August 4, 2020, Impact Wrestling announced that Emergence will be a two night special of the company's television programme, Impact!, that will be broadcast on AXS TV on August 18 and 25, 2020.[1]

Storylines[]

The matches are made from scripted storylines, where wrestlers portray heroes, villains, or less distinguishable characters in scripted events that build tension and culminate in a wrestling match or series of matches. Results are predetermined by Impact Wrestling writers, while storylines are produced on their weekly television program, Impact!.[2]

At Slammiversary, Deonna Purrazzo defeated Jordynne Grace in a Singles match by submission to win the Impact Knockouts Championship.[3] On the July 28 edition of Impact!, Purrazzo defeated Kimber Lee in a singles match by submission, and after the match, Grace attacked Purrazzo whilst her arm was in a sling, as a result of muscle damaged caused by the armbar submission that made Grace submit to Purrazzo at Slammiversary, causing Purrazzo to flee from the ring.[4] On August 4 2020, it was announced that Purrazzo will defend the title against Grace on night two of Emergence.[1]
