"Last Train Home" Released: January 17, 2015

Essential Collection Last Train Home is the first greatest hits album by American jazz fusion band Pat Metheny Group. It was released on March 4, 2015, by Nonesuch Records, and released in Japan. The album serves as an introduction to the band after their 1987 song "Last Train Home" was used as the ending theme music of Japanese anime series JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, during the second half of the show's Stardust Crusaders story arc. As such, the album's slipcover artwork features stills from the ending credits animation for Stardust Crusaders, arranged in an homage to the cover of "Last Train Home’s” parent album, Still Life (Talking).^[1][2] A separate inner cover features a photograph of abandoned train cars in the desert.

Last Train Home contains selections from the band's albums released by Geffen Records and Warner Bros. Records, spanning 1987 to 2002, excluding the 1996 album Quartet. Though a few of the Group's songs have been collected on Selected Recordings:rarum IX, a compilation of Metheny's more popular tunes, this is the first compilation album dedicated entirely to Pat Metheny Group itself.
