Fisayo Akinade (born 28 December 1987) is a British Nigerian actor.[1] He is best known for his roles as Dean in Cucumber and Ziggy in Ordinary Lies.

Early life and education[]

Akinade was born Adeleke Olugbade S O A Akinade on 28 December 1987 in Hackney, London. Akinade trained to be an actor at Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in London.[2][3]

Career[]

Akinade's television breakthrough came in 2015, when he starred as Dean Monroe in Russell T Davies' drama Cucumber and their offshoots Banana and Tofu.[4] In 2016, Akinade starred alongside Glenn Close, Gemma Arterton and Paddy Considine in The Girl with All the Gifts.[5]

In February 2022, Akinade starred in Alistair McDowall's play The Glow.[6] The play was performed at Royal Court Theatre Downstairs.[7][8]

Personal life[]

Akinade is openly gay.[9]
