Great Scott! is an American sitcom starring Tobey Maguire and Kevin Connolly that aired on Fox from October 4 to November 29, 1992. It was created by Tom Gammill and Max Pross and produced by Castle Rock Entertainment.

Premise[]

The show centered on 15-year-old Scott Melrod (Maguire), a freshman at Taft High School,^[1] and his vivid imagination.^[2] When Scott would imagine things the show would transition into the situation being imagined. Kevin Connolly played Scott's best friend.

Scott tries to change his attitude to impress a rebellious girl, and she takes him to the beauty salon where she works to change his look. After Scott's mother shows up as a customer, the girlfriend gets fired by the salon owner for not doing her assigned job as a receptionist (she was supposed to schedule Scott's mom). Scott is then forced to decide which woman is more important in his life when the girlfriend is going to egg his mother's party in revenge.

After flunking out of an advanced class, Scott tries to get into a new class, but is beset by problems. Eventually he is put into choir alongside his sister.

Scott gets an A in English class for a poem he wrote. Larry is convinced that Scott plagiarized the poem from the lyrics of a heavy metal song by the Band Exodus who appear in the dream sequences. Guitarist Gary Holt went on to also play in Slayer. Drummer John Temepesta would go on to play in Testament, White Zombie, Rob Zombie and currently is in the Cult.
