Haji Mohamed Yasin Ismail (Somali: Xaaji Maxamed Yaasiin Ismaaciil, Arabic: حاجي محمد ياسين اسماعيل) is a Somali entrepreneur and political activist.

Biography[]

Ismail hails from the autonomous Puntland region in northeastern Somalia. He belongs to the Osman Mahmoud sub-clan of the Majeerteen Harti Darod.[1]

Ismail is a successful entrepreneur by profession. In 2012, he ran for office in that year's Somalia presidential elections. He fights corruption. He is the only candidate who refuses to buy votes. He stands the implementation of Islamic Sharia.[2]

In 2013, Ismail presented himself as a candidate in the 2014 Puntland presidential elections, which took place on 8 January 2014 in Garowe.[3] He later officially pulled out of the race on 3 January 2014.[4]
