Dr. Harjot Kamal Singh[1] (born 16 March 1967) is an Indian politician. Currently, He is an member of the Punjab Legislative Assembly representing the Moga Constituency Assembly since 2017 and is associated with Bharatiya Janta Party . By profession, he is an Ayurvedic doctor and runs a rural hospital under the name of "Bhai Bishan Singh Memorial Bharj Hospital at Ajitwal (Moga).[2]

Political career[]

Dr Harjot Kamal is connected with Bharatiya Janata Party. Presently, he is a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) of Moga, Punjab. He has remained secretary of Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) & also district president of Social Media Cell of Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC). He was the district general secretary of National Students' Union of India during his student life from 1987 to 1990. Later, he joined the Youth Congress and was the secretary of Punjab Youth Congress from 2004 to 2005, followed by general secretary of Pradesh Youth Congress from 2005 to 2007. During this period, he played a crucial role in the elections and the movements to uplift the party. He is the state organizing secretary of the National Integrated Medical Association (NIMA) as well.

Educational contribution[]

Dr Harjot Kamal Singh was a general secretary of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Educational Society[3] (Regd.) Moga w.e.f. 1995, he is running various educational colleges and institutions such as Industrial Training Institute (ITI), Polytechnic, Management Institutions in the name of "Lala Lajpat Rai Ji". These educational institutes are providing quality education up to 10,000 students approximately per year in Moga. Generate employment to around 2500 employees along with teaching faculty and non-teaching staff. He is connected with the thousands of families & friends of this renowned Moga. He is a Management Member of G.G.S Technical Institutes.[4]

Awards and honours[]

On Swantantarta Swadhan Divas he was honoured with Astha Sammaan in 2003 at Talkatora Stadium, New Delhi by former president of India Shri Ramaswamy Venkataraman Ji and former Prime Minister of India Shri P. V. Narasimha Rao Ji, for enlightening the name of a great patriot of India Lala Lajpat Rai Ji, for providing education by setting up many educational institutes in his memory, on his name. He also received the "Bhagat Puran Singh" award given by the Press Association of Punjab[5] (Affiliated with NUOJ) besides that he received the "Vidya Vichari Tan Parupkari" award by Folklore Research Academy Chandigarh.
