Hemant Kumar Tantia (born 6 May 1966) IRS,[1] is a Joint Commissioner in GST, Pune. He originally hails from the state of Jharkhand. Hemant is a professionally trained musician.[2] He is married and has two sons, Harsh and Yash.

Education[]

Hemant Tantia has a B.SC in Agricultural Science, and a Masters in Law. Currently, he is completing a Ph.D.

Current work[]

Hemant Kumar Tantia is currently working for the Govt. of India as the Joint Commissioner of Custom and GST.[3]

Artist background[]

He is known for composing theme-based songs. His song on the life of cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar “Yeh Hai Sachin”[4] became immensely popular. In the year 2016-2017, he came out with several songs and albums dedicated to India and his home state Jharkhand.[5]

In 2018, in order to pay a tribute to our Father of Nation on his 150th birth anniversary, Tantia composed a beautiful song title "Bapu". This song was unveiled by Union Minister of MSME Shri Ginraj Singh on Gandhi Jayanti. In 2019, Hemant Tantia came up with another patriotic song, "Tiranga". It was unveiled by Hon'ble Defence Minister Shri Rajnath Singh in July 2019. The Hon'ble Defence Minister had appreciated his creativity and dedication and quoted about him by saying "I have had the opportunity to listen to many songs of Shri Hemant Kumar Tantia composed in a rhythmic manner. I am really impressed with his songs and I can say that these songs are completely engrossed with national sentiments and make a deep impact on anyone's heart because these songs create a feeling of intense national self- respect in anybody's mind. I extend my best wishes to Shri Hemant Kumar Tantia for composition of these kind of songs, "July 14th, 2019. This Tiranga song was also praised by eminent cricket Bharat Ratan Sachin Tendulkar too. In his comment, Sachin said "I watched Hemant Tantia and his family song. It's a moving song. I must say you have covered the right things and above all I think the timing couldn't have been better. I want to wish you all the best. I know people are going to appreciate this song. Finally, the most important thing Happy Independence Day to everyone. Jai Hind" Aug 13th, 2019. Subsequently, he composed one beautiful song on Monsoon titled, "Love you Monsoon". This melodious song is very meaningful and covered all the important aspects of monsoon rains and it attracts children very much. Hemant Tantia also produced two subjects based documentaries in Aug 2019 titled as GST. 'Bharatiya Arthvyastha ki Reedh" and "Bharat Abdhul Vikaas ki One" highlighting the various government developmental works. These documentaries were released by Hon'ble Governor of Maharashtra Shri Bhagat Singh Koshyari During the ongoing lockdown period, millions of people are under depression and feeling low. Under such circumstances, Hemant Kumar Tantia is working as a true Corona warrior and has been helping out poor and the needy to the best of his capacity by way of providing food stuff and financial assistance. To motivate people, he has composed two very beautiful songs on current crises a) Chai Bhaag Corona b) Lockdown- Ek Intehaan. His untiring social services has been well recognized by top institutions and trusts and appreciated his work by way of issuing certificates to him.
