Hobergs is an unincorporated community in Lake County, California.[1] It grew up around the former Hoberg's Resort.

Description[]

Hobergs is a residential-resort community in the Cobb Mountain Area.[2] It is 2.25 miles (3.6 km) north-northwest of Whispering Pines,[3] at an elevation of 3015 feet (919 m).[1]

The federal candidate endangered species Rincon Ridge ceanothus (Ceanothus confusus) is found at Hobergs.[4] The subdivision is served by the Middletown Unified School District, with grades K-6 attending Cobb Elementary School and older children attending schools in Middletown.[5] Hobergs has a small local commercial center.[6]

History[]

Gustave Hoberg founded a resort at the site in 1885.[3] A post office operated at Hobergs from 1929 to 1970.[3]

The community was devastated by the Valley Fire in September, 2015.[7]
