Ishk Par Zor Nahi (English Translation: No Emphasis on Love) is an Indian Hindi-language television drama series. It premiered from 15 March 2021 to 20 August 2021 on Sony TV. It is produced by Gul Khan and Karishma Jain under 4 Lions Films, it stars Param Singh and Akshita Mudgal.^{[1][2][3][4][5][6]}

Plot[]

Ahaan Veer Malhotra lives a disciplined and controlled life and believes in hard work. Meanwhile, Ishqi comes from a humble background, is free-spirited and vibrant. For Ahaan, a life partner upholds his family values and acts as a homemaker whereas Ishqi values love above everything else and believes that men and women are equal and hence it is good for women to do jobs.

They meet when Ahaan is going for a meeting and Ishqi asks for a lift. A couple dressed in bridal attire is with her. When informed that the couple was marrying against family morals, Ahaan forces them out of the car. Ishqi took the chance to steal the car and drive away with the aged bride and groom. Later that day, Ishqi came to his house to thank him and apologize for 'borrowing' the car, handing him a letter. Later, when Ahaan has her arrested, Ishqi goes to his office, breaks the glass window, and loses her job because of a police complaint. Due to her unemployment, she becomes Sarla's assistant.

Ishqi and Ahaan constantly find themselves in disagreement and, as a result, become enemies. Ishqi lives with her Maasi and her drunkard Mausa who always beats her Maasi for money. Coincidentally, Ishqi's fiancée Mayank is Ahaan's best friend. Ishqi and Mayank, along with Sonu and her fiancé Raj, are having a double wedding. Mayank is Sonu's ex-boyfriend and plans to fake his marriage with Ishqi in an attempt to make Sonu jealous and get her back in his life.

Ishqi and Ahaan often argue due to their contrasting reasoning about marriage and women. On Jagrata, Sarla's nephew tries to harass a girl. Ishqi saves her but is considered wrong by Sarla and Ahaan. Ahaan's old thinking and Ishqi's actions result in an argument. Ahaan disrespects her parents and is asked to get out of his house. Since it was midnight, Ahaan worries about her safety and decides to follow her, showcasing his feelings towards Ishqi. As he is following her, Ahaan finds Ishqi unconscious on the road and takes care of her. Ahaan learns that Ishqi is diabetic. He reminisces about the time he stopped her from eating food and regrets it. Ishqi confronts Ahaan after gaining consciousness. Kartik(Ahaan's cousin) argues with Ahaan over their thoughts on the incident and they resolve matters eventually.

The next day he gives her a note saying that she has diabetes, asking her to keep it in her purse if she faints. Feeling offended, Ishqi replies to Ahaan with a note saying that he is aggressive and arrogant. They argue again, and Ishqi returns the note. After breakfast, Ahaan again asks her to keep it. Ishqi answers a phone call and leaves in a hurry.

On the day of Sagai, Ishqi's mausa steals the Sagai ring. Ishqi goes to Purani Delhi to buy a ring similar to the previous one. She arrives late to her own Sagai with a brass version of the ring, leaving everyone except Ahaan frustrated. Ahaan gives Ishqi a sample ring given by Ahaan's Chachi. Later, Ahaan scolds Ishqi knowing that she was at work. Later he learns that Ishqi’s parents died when she was young.

Ahaan drinks Bhaang by mistake and tells Ishqi that he had prepared the Holi party even though he hates Holi. He puts a ring on Ishqi's finger unknowingly. After Mayank and Ishqi's engagement on Holi, Kartik confronts Ahaan in a funny way for applying color on Ishqi's cheeks. Sarla wants both brides to meet a saint.

Sarla overhears Sonu and Ishqi's conversation and misunderstands Ishqi's words. Sarla then threatens to stop the weddings unless Ishqi begs forgiveness by touching her feet. While Ishqi's fiancée Mayank forces her to beg for forgiveness, Ahaan takes a stand for Ishqi after knowing that Sonu was a part of this misunderstanding. The Mehndi day arrives, and Ahaan's name is etched on Ishqi's hand by mistake. As usual, Sarla creates a scene, but Kartik requests the mehndi artist to blame herself so that Sarla can stop blaming Ishqi.

The next day, Ishqi goes to the Malhotra house to practice the rehearsal for the sangeet ceremony. Everyone becomes impressed by Ishqi's dancing skills. Later that day, when Ishqi prepares for the Sangeet, she realizes that the dress is very tight. Mayank taunts her in front of everyone, insulting her weight and upsetting her. Fortunately, with Rhea's help, she puts on the dress. During Mayank and Ishqi's sangeet performance, Ishqi's dress tears in front of everyone. Mayank leaves her in this condition, but Ahaan rushes in with a blazer, protecting her honor. While everyone taunts Ishqi, Ahaan stands for her in front of everyone and encourages her to love herself. Ishqi attempts to confront Mayank for not defending her when her dress split.

Ishqi rushes back home upon learning about her Maasi's emergency. When Ishqi reaches home, she sees that her Maasi is badly hurt and takes her to the hospital. At the same hospital, Ahaan's mom Savitri is admitted. Savitri lost family connections for several years. No one in the family knows her whereabouts other than Ahaan's grandmother. Ahaan hates his mother as he is told by Dadi that Savitri left their family due to an extramarital affair. Chachi and Chachaji know the partial truth about Savitri. Later Ahaan's grandmother learns that Savitri has escaped from the hospital. She doesn't want Savitri to meet the rest of the family for an unknown reason.

Ahaan worries about Ishqi and stays awake at night. He goes to visit Ishqi early the next morning. There he learns about Maasi's hospitalized condition and becomes very concerned for Ishqi. He doesn't directly help her but makes Mayank do so. Ahaan's grandma suddenly announces a change in the wedding venue. (fearing that Savitri may come to meet with the family). However, Savitri somehow manages to find the family and hides in Sonu's car.

Everyone travels towards their new venue (with Savitri still in Sonu's car). After half the journey, Ahaan, Rhea, Ishqi, and Mayank's car is damaged. They decide to travel by train. Ahaan and Ishqi are left behind, and Ahaan tells her he deeply cares for her. They are forced to stay at a resort and share one room. When they reach the venue, they find that Mayank has thrown a party for her with a secret motive to harass Sonu.

Later at the party, Ishqi gets drunk and confesses her feelings for Ahaan. Kartik watches as they start to develop feelings for each other. The next day, Sonu wakes up and finds out that she had been harassed that night. She receives a photo on her phone from the unknown predator. Sonu attempts suicide by falling off a rooftop only to be saved by Ishqi. Sonu explains her situation to Ishqi, and Ishqi promises to identify the harasser. At night, during the family dinner, Ishqi speaks on Sonu's behalf and causes everyone to become emotional. Ishqi thanks Ahaan, telling him that she is very fortunate as he didn't harm her when he found her unconscious.

Mayank (the harasser) blackmails Sonu, and she falls unconscious. While Ahaan carries Sonu, Ishqi's hand touches Ahaan's hand, unknowingly completing their Haldi ceremony. Ishqi tries to catch the blackmailer by calling his number, but the fire alarm goes off. While everyone is running, Mayank's phone falls into the swimming pool. Mayank worries about Sonu's photographs. Meanwhile, Ahaan is confused about his feelings for Ishqi.

Mayank plays a double game with Sonu and Ishqi. Ahaan eavesdrops on Sonu and Ishqi having a conversation about the pictures. He hears half the conversation where Sonu requests Ishqi not to tell Ahaan about it and allow a drama-free marriage. Misunderstanding Ishqi, Ahaan asks her to tell him what they were talking about, but she refuses. On the other hand, Mayank continues to worry about the photographs and tries to blackmail Sonu again. Sarla sees Sonu weeping and bombards her with questions, but Ishqi intervenes.

At the wedding, Ishqi finds out that it was Mayank who harassed Sonu when she notices scratch marks on his forearm, as Sonu's nails were chipped. She realizes that he was the culprit behind all the problems. She contemplates telling everyone but realizes that Sarla will cancel Sonu's wedding and thus, calls off her own wedding without confessing Mayank's wrongdoings. Mayank's family is traumatized, while Ahaan thinks Ishqi did this because of her feelings towards him.

Ishqi slaps Mayank, and Mayank threatens to tarnish Sonu's image anyhow. However, Mayank's father sees the photographs taken by his son and disowns him. In a fit of rage, Mayank pushes his father, causing a heart attack. Later Dadi, Sarla, Ahaan, and Suman blame Ishqi for Mayank's father's heart attack (unaware that Mayank is the main culprit). Sonu is unable, to tell the truth.

Ahaan confronts Ishqi and promises to ruin her life. The following day, Mayank plays the victim card and asks Ishqi to "forgive" him, but she refuses, enraging Ahaan. Mayank then fakes his suicide attempt, and everyone blames Ishqi. Kartik confronts Ahaan and tries to reason that Ishqi might be right and that she's possibly hiding something. But Ahaan disagrees and calls the police. Ishqi defends herself, telling everyone that Mayank paid a waiter to mix alcohol in her drink. The waiter accepts this but eventually frames Ishqi (on Mayank's orders). Ahaan assures Ishqi support if she tells him the truth. But instead, she surrenders to the police. Ahaan's hatred for Ishqi becomes limitless, and he warns her that he will ruin her life if they ever cross paths again.

After six months, Ishqi works as a waitress. She dislikes Ahaan after past incidents but still imagines herself with him. Meanwhile, Ahaan and Rhea are preparing to wed. Their engagement ceremony takes place at the resort where Ishqi works. Ahaan is puzzled to see her silent and obedient to his orders to clean his and Rhea's room. She goes to clean their rooms where she meets Kartik. He is happy to see her but is shocked that she is a waitress. He confronts Ahaan when he insults her. Ishqi's Mausa Ji hurts Ishqi by pushing her. He tries to throw a stone on Ishqi but Ahaan saves her. Despite hating Ishqi, he becomes protective of her. He confronts Mausa Ji and warns him never to hurt Ishqi again. In between their conversations, Mausa Ji spills out his misdeeds.

Ahaan and Rhea get engaged. Later, it is revealed that Rhea is pregnant. Mayank shows up again intending to harm Sonu but Ishqi saves Sonu. While Ishqi and Mayank are talking about past events, Ahaan learns the truth. He saves Ishqi from Mayank. Mayank tries to harm Ahaan, but Ishqi comes in between, leaving her with a head injury. Ahaan feels guilty and takes care of Ishqi. Dadi becomes suspicious of Ahaan's feelings for Ishqi and decides to separate them. Dadi manipulates Rhea and asks her to find a job for Ishqi. Rhea finds a job for Ishqi in Singapore. Kartik and Raj learn the truth after Sonu explains the situation. She apologizes and everyone learns Mayank's truth and thanks Ishqi for her selflessness.

Rhea tells Ishqi about her new job. Ishqi initially hesitates but later agrees. Ahaan becomes aware of this and he confronts Ishqi for leaving everything behind. When Ishqi and Ahaan were raising a toast, Ahaan's glass breaks which leaves Ishqi injured. Upon seeing Ishqi in pain he recklessly runs to help her, leaving Rhea jealous. Ishqi picks up the pieces of glass as she is the worker there. The next day Ishqi along with her Maasi leaves for the airport.

In the evening, everyone is celebrating the wedding that is about to take place, except Ahaan. Kartik is aware of his brother's feelings and video-calls Ishqi. He shows Ahaan alone, in his thoughts. Kartik then tells Ishqi to talk to Ahaan. Dadi arrives to call Ahaan for the wedding. During the wedding, Rhea takes her vows and Ahaan looks at her, but sees Ishqi and becomes happy. Believing he is marrying Ishqi, Ahaan takes his vows, but instead of taking Rhea's name, he says Ishqi, shocking everyone. Ahaan realizes what he has done, and says that he cannot marry Rhea.

He then runs away. They rush to the airport to stop Ishqi. She half-heartedly heads to board the plane, but a passenger spills juice on her, so she goes to the washroom to clean up. Ahaan and Kartik reach the airport and are told that everyone has boarded and it will depart in two minutes. Ahaan protests to stop the flight. He feels defeated and sits down. Ishqi comes from the washroom and walks by Ahaan, who runs towards her and stops her. Ahaan proposes, but Ishqi gives excuses. They sit together on the edge of a beach where they have a romantic conversation and Ishqi says "Ishqaan" which melts Ahaan.

Meanwhile, Dadi is enraged. She showers Ishqi with accusations of stealing her grandson. Rhea's mother interrupts and interrogates Dadi for Ahaan's behavior. Dadi is very much embarrassed and determines to destroy Ishqi's life. Ahaan and Ishqi get very worried for Dadi and try to find her. Ahaan is distraught and hopes not to lose his Dadi like his parents. Meanwhile, Ishqi consoles him and helps Ahaan to find Dadi.

Dadi is around a temple where she is about to commit suicide. Ishqi, after searching, finds Dadi where she is about to get hit by a truck. Ishqi saves her and texts Ahaan. Dadi admonishes Ishqi and insults her presence in Ahaan's life. At last, Dadi gives Ahaan two options: choose either her and her family or Ishqi. Ishqi asks Dadi not to put Ahaan in such a dilemma. Rhea and her mom are constantly planning to enter the Malhotra family and to find a way to hide Rhea's pregnancy. Rhea ensures her mom that everything will happen according to plan and that she will conquer Ahaan. Ahaan is disappointed by Dadi's childish act. In the evening, Rhea misguides Ishqi that Ahaan stopped her just to give her a life back which she had to give up because of Ahaan. Rhea also pretends that she cares for Ahaan and his family and that Ahaan will come back to her. She disheartens Ishqi by inviting her to their wedding. Ahaan takes Ishqi away from Rhea.

Ahaan is upset and disturbed but pretends to be okay. Ishqi feels the pain and sorrow in his eyes and tries to assure him. She repeats the words that Ahaan once said to her which makes Ahaan gratified. Later, Dadi agrees to Ahaan and Ishqi's wedding after seeing Ahaan in distress. However, she plots with Rhea against Ishqi.

Initially, Rhea planned to frame Ishqi for reporting against Mayank for molesting Sonu. The plan backfires because Ahaan trusts that Ishqi would not do such a thing after doing so much for Sonu to save her honor. However, Sarla becomes enraged upon finding the truth and, after causing much drama (in an attempt to separate Sonu and Raj), pretends to apologize to Sonu while secretly promising to make her life miserable. Meanwhile, Kartik becomes suspicious that someone in the party wants to separate Ishqi and Ahaan. He tries to confirm his suspicions by calling the police and requesting CCTV footage of the actual person who filed the case.

Dadi and Rhea plan to break up Ishqi and Ahaan by having Ishqi kidnapped and leaving a letter on her behalf stating that she cannot do the rituals. A heartbroken Ahaan assumes that Ishqi has left him and has chosen her career over love. He later receives a phone call from Kartik who has uncovered the filer's identity. Ahaan and Kartik use this evidence plan to trap the filer by marrying Rhea. Kartik arrives with the police and informs everyone that Rhea's mother filed a case against Mayank on behalf of Ishqi. Meanwhile, Ahaan tells everybody that he knew that Rhea and her family were behind all the goof-ups. When Ahaan was asking Rhea's father about Ishqi's whereabouts, Ishqi arrives and tells everybody that somebody kidnapped her. Rhea accepts that all of this was done by her family, but says that someone from Ahaan's family is involved too. Kartik tries to prove her wrong by contacting the priest who falsely alleges that he was hired by Rhea's parents to fake the illogical ritual.

Ishqi doubts Ahaan's trust over her as he admits that everyone thought Ishqi ran away leaving him and recollects that he didn't believe her until he heard the truth from Mayank's mouth. Ishqi feels dejected as Ahaan trusted Dadi blindly and he waited for evidence in case of her innocence instead of saving her. Ahaan and Ishqi marry. Ishqi gets a call from the hospital as Savitri wakes up from a coma. She admits to Ishqi that she is Ahaan's mother. She tells her the truth behind her disappearance, how her husband used to torture her and Dadi never stood against her son. She left with her children, but on tracking them, Ahaan's father died in an accident. Holding Savitri responsible for her son's demise Dadi got her into a mental hospital and made Ahaan and Sonu believe that their mother ran away with someone else. Ishqi reveals to Savitri that she is in fact Ahaan's wife. Ishqi calls Ahaan and says she wants to talk with him immediately. Ahaan thinks that she is angry and maybe that's why she was not receiving his calls. But soon Ishqi arrives and surprises him. Dadi acts ill to spoil Ishqaan's wedding night.

On the day of Ishqi’s moohdikhai function, Ahaan gets drunk with Rhea. Later Ahaan goes to the hospital to meet Rhea where she says she will abort the child, but, Ahaan declares that he is ready to take responsibility for the child. Ahaan feels guilty about his mistake and for breaking Ishqi's trust, thus, Ahaan apologizes to Ishqi and says that he never cheated on her as well as Rhea. When Rhea’s mother resorts to asking about Malhotra’s whereabouts, the manager tells her they have gone to Delhi for Ahaan and Ishqi’s reception. Rhea again plots something. Ishqi’s Grihapravesh ritual takes place.

Ishqi informs Ahaan that she is coming to his office. Rhea arrives first. Ahaan assumes that it is Ishqi and pulls Rhea towards him just as Ishqi enters. Rhea tries to create misunderstandings between them, but Ishqi laughs and asks them why they are so shocked and scared and asks whether they are hiding something from her. During the wedding reception, he is late due to some office work. Ishqi calls him to ask his whereabouts to which he replies that he will be there soon. He receives a call from Rhea's maid that her parents are not home and she faints, leaving Ahaan in stress. He calls a doctor for her and asks Kartik to go to Rhea's house. Soon, Ahaan comes, and then Ishqi and Ahaan dance.

The news announces that the mall that was constructed by their company has been damaged. Everyone suspects that it has been done by Mehtas to take revenge against Ahaan. Later, a company offers a project to Malhotras' and Savitri is disguised as the owner, whose company is helping Ahaan's company in bearing the losses. Unknowingly, Ahaan signs a contract with a company, but Ishqi plans to make him and his mother meet. Ahaan is stressful since his mother has returned to their lives meanwhile Dadi plots to kill Savitri again but every time she's saved by Maasi, Ishqi, and Suraj's help. Ishqi then makes Ahaan sign a contract by manipulating him and he does so to make him and his mom meet but then gradually Ahaan starts calling her Ma without any compulsion, from his hear for till now he had heard from his grandma but when he heard it himself he didn't feel the hatred.

Savitri falls sick at his office and he fulfilling the duties of a son takes her care. Later, Ishqi learns of Rhea's pregnancy when Rhea herself comes to the Malhotra house to say it intending to separate Ishqaan. Ishqi though feels shattered gathers herself up and takes a stand for Ahaan saying that she knew it all. Later Kartik by hook or crook solves it and patches them up. To do that he locked them in a hotel room by using Sonu. According to his plan, it is successful. Then Ishqi ignores Ahaan. But after some time they realize each other's importance in their life. So finally they consummate their marriage.

Ishqi then trusts Rhea and asks her to show Ahaan the proof of his grandmother's treachry but instead, Rhea shows the footage which proved that Ishqi was the cause behind Savitri returning to their lives. As the secret opens up before the family Sonu genuinely supports Ishqi along with Ahhan but when everyone is gone Ahaan without hearing Ishqi's side of the story asks her to leave the house. She says that she had explained to Ahaan that in the case of family proof may be false but the heart never lies but he didn't hear his heart nor Ishqi for to him proof was the final talk. She swears to return to Malhotra's house only along with Savitri with full respect and would do anything to remove the misunderstandings between Ahaan and his mother and bids bye. Both of them are heartbroken in each other's absence and Dadi takes this chance to end every relation between Ishqaan.

Rhea and Dadi come together to make Ahaan and Ishqi divorce. Chachi overhears their conversation and starts arguing on this matter and Chachaji arrives at the moment and tries to pacify them but when Dadi tries to raise her hand on Chachi, Chacha stops her and defends Chachi. Dadi takes divorce papers to Ahaan and tries to convince him to sign those papers but Ahaan denies doing so. So Dadi tells him that she wants to test Ishqi that if she is also not in the mood to end their relationship. Dadi persuades Ishqi to sign on divorce papers, by saying that she will let Ahaan and Sonu meet Savitri. But Ishqi did sign as she wanted Dadi to think that she is winning. Dadi shows Ahaan that Ishqi signed the papers which enrages Ahaan and then he goes to Ishqi.

There he signs the divorce paper and gives Ishqi the ring. Ishqi is left heartbroken after that while Chachi decides to help Ishqi and tries to persuade her to come back home. Later, with the help of Kartik, Ahaan learns Dadi's truth. He goes to a mental asylum and saves her. Then, he brings Ishqi and his mother (Savitri) back to Malhotra's house which shocks Dadi and Also Ahaan exposed Dadi in front of the family. Then Sonu and Ahaan both apologize to Savitri for their mistakes. Finally, due to Ishqi, Dadi realizes her mistakes and apologizes to Savitri and Ishqi as well. She also accepts Ishqi as Ishqi Ahaan Veer Malhotra. Ahaan also forgives Dadi because Ishqi coerces him to do so. In the end, Ishqi comes to Ahaan's Car and proposes to him for marriage and he also accepts her proposal. They both get remarried. The show ends on a happy note.

The show was in pre-production for a long time. Param Singh signed this show in July 2020, when the production house approached him.^[7] Casting for Ishqi's character took a long time and finally Akshita Mudgal signed as Ishqi in October 2020. Filming began in November 2020.^{[citation needed]}

The pandemic's second wave delayed the shoot in mid-April 2021.^[8][9] The cast and crew relocated to Daman and Diu. They came back and resumed shooting in Mumbai in the start of July 2021.^[10]

The first promo of the series was released on 28 February 2021 featuring Param Singh and Akshita Mudgal.^[11]
