Robby D. was an American pornographic film director and cinematographer.[3]

D. was born in Long Beach, California.[2] He studied cinematography and directing at the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television.[3] Prior to porn, he worked as an action sports cameraman.[4]

Career[]

In 1998, D. began directing for Vivid Entertainment.[5] While at Vivid, he directed three lines titled Action Sports Sex, Color Blind, and The Watcher.[2][3] Since 2002, he has directed exclusively for Digital Playground.[5] His directorial debut for Digital Playground, Sweet 101, was featured in the May 2003 issue of Revolver.[6] He later created the series Jack's Playground along with several spin-offs such as Jack’s Teen America, Jack’s POV, and Jack’s Big Tit Show.[3]

Final Years and Death[]

Following major organizational changes in the wake of Manwin's acquitution of Digital Playground, D would be forced to become an independent producer with smaller budgets, outputting a fraction of the material produced during the height of Digital Playground's Pirates era. D's mental and physical health was in steady decline until his death. In 2020, in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, D was an outspoken critic of mask use and vaccination. This would prove to be a fatal stance, as he succumed to complications from Covid-19 in November 2021.

Former adult producer and collegue Brah Bones spoke at his memorial service, referring to his innovative camera work, "Robby always got the shot." Following the service some had noted the irony - not the shot that mattered, referring to the Covid-19 vaccine that would have likely saved his life.
