James is an upcoming 2022 Indian Kannada language action film written and directed by Chethan Kumar, produced by Kishore Pathikonda, and starring Puneeth Rajkumar and Priya Anand in the lead roles. This would be Puneeth's posthumous appearance following his death on 29 October 2021.[1]

The film marked the second collaboration between Puneeth and Priya after Raajakumara (2017).[2][3][4][5] The film score and soundtrack are composed by Charan Raj. The film is scheduled for release in theatres on 17 March 2022.[6]

The female lead role for the film was initially offered to Nidhhi Agerwal, who opted not to work citing dates issue, while Pooja Hegde also refused the offer citing her commitment to Radhe Shyam.[8] Subsequently, Priya Anand was signed.[9][10][11] The makers also announced that Srikanth, Adithya Menon, Mukesh Rishi and Anu Prabhakar would be seen in prominent roles.[12][13] [14] In 2021, R. Sarathkumar,[15] Tilak Shekar, Shine Shetty, Chikkanna joined the film's cast.[16]

Filming[]

The film is being produced by Kishore Pathikonda under the banner Kishore Productions.[3] The film started roll from 19 January 2020 in Bengaluru.[17] The second schedule of filming started from 14 October 2020 in Hampi.[18] An intense schedule was also wrapped in February 2021 in Kashmir featuring important action sequences of Puneeth Rajkumar.[19] After returning from Kashmir, Puneeth became busy in the promotional activities of his other film, Yuvarathnaa which released on 1 April amidst the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. The James team resumed shoot once again from July 5 at a brisk pace after the Government of Karnataka gave nod to restart filming activities.[20]
