Jared Bush (born June 12, 1974) is an American screenwriter, producer, and director, best known for co-directing and co-writing the Disney animated film Zootopia in 2016, writing the Disney animated film Moana in the same year and co-creating and executive producing the Disney XD animated series Penn Zero: Part-Time Hero. He also co-founded the production company Dark Castle Entertainment.

Career[]

Bush co-wrote the script of Walt Disney Animation Studios' Zootopia and also co-directed the film along with Byron Howard and Rich Moore.[1][2] He joined the Zootopia project early on, before it evolved from a spy film into a police procedural; he was excited to work on a spy film because both his father and grandfather had worked for the Central Intelligence Agency.[3]

He also wrote the screenplay of Walt Disney Animation Studios' Moana.[4]

Bush co-created the animated television series Penn Zero: Part-Time Hero.[5] Bush is set to co-direct an animated Disney film (tentatively titled Encanto) about a Colombian magical family alongside Howard and Charise Castro Smith.[6][7][8] Bush will also co-write the screenplay alongside Castro Smith.[6]
