Commander Jesaya Elago Kambonde (born 22 April 1955) is a Namibian Military Senior Officer. He served in various positions in the Namibian Defence Force (NDF)[1]

Early life and education[]

Kambonde was born in Oshikoto Region in 1955. He holds an undergraduate degree in financial science from the University of Stellenbosch in South Africa and a diploma in military intelligence from the Bundesweh Military Academy in Berlin, Germany.[1]

Army career[]

Kambonde joined SWAPO's military wing, the People's Liberation Army of Namibia (PLAN), in 1975 and participated in Namibia's struggle for independence in various positions. He attended military training in Germany. At Namibia's independence in 1990, he held the rank of captain. From 1998 to 1999, with the rank of Major, Kambonde partook in the Second Congo War as part of an Allied SADC contingent comprising Namibia, Zimbabwean, Angolan Armies. He became deputy commander of the Kongola base with the rank of colonel in 2000. On 24 June 2006 Kambonde was promoted to the post of Keetmanshoop Base Commander.[1]
