John Bell QC FBA FRSA is Emeritus Professor of Law (1973) at the University of Cambridge and a Fellow of Pembroke College, Cambridge.^[1][2]

Prior to appointment to his current position in 2001, he was professor of law at the University of Leeds (1989–2001)^[1] and fellow and tutor in law at Wadham College, Oxford (1979–1989).^[1]

He is an honorary member of Hardwicke Chambers,^[3] and was ordained as a permanent deacon within the Catholic Church in July 2012.^[4]
