Jonas Vingegaard Rasmussen (born 10 December 1996) is a Danish cyclist, who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam Team Jumbo–Visma.[4]

Career[]

Vingegaard started his career with the Danish continental team ColoQuick in May 2016, and while still aged 19 finished second in a UCI 2.1 level race , Tour of China I.

He joined Team Jumbo–Visma in 2019, and that year achieved his first UCI WorldTour win in stage 6 of the Tour de Pologne. He completed the 2020 Vuelta a España as a domestique for the race winner, Primož Roglič.

Vingegaard won stage 5 of his first race in 2021, the UAE Tour, before winning two stages and the overall in the Settimana Internazionale Coppi e Bartali and coming second overall, behind his teammate Roglič, in the Tour of the Basque Country. In the 2021 Tour de France Vingegaard was a Domestique for overall favorite Primož Roglič. Roglič had a number of falls, and withdrew after eight stages, leaving Vingegaard as the team's only general classification contender. He twice finished second on summit finishes behind eventual winner Tadej Pogačar, and came third on both of the time trials on his way to second place overall, becoming the second Danish rider to achieve a podium finish in the Tour de France and the first since 1996.[5]
