KT Wiz (Korean: KT 위즈) are a South Korean professional baseball team based in Suwon. They are a member of the KBO League. Their home stadium is Suwon Baseball Stadium in Suwon.

History[]

On January 11, 2013, the Korea Baseball Organization governing body officially approved of KT Baseball Club's admission to KBO League, beginning in the 2015 season. The Suwon KT Wiz played the 2013 season as part of the KBO Future League's Freedom Division.[1] The team played the 2014 season as part of the Futures League's Blue League division.[2] In 2015, the team was elevated to the KBO League.

As a new team KBO League in 2015 and 2016, the Wiz were allowed four foreign players on their roster each season (as opposed to the usual three).[3] Foreign players signed by the Wiz for the 2015 season were pitchers Phil Irwin, Andrew Sisco, and Chris Oxspring; and hitter Andy Marte (Sisco and Irwin were both released mid-season; replaced by Dan Black and Justin Germano, respectively). Foreign players signed by the Wiz for the 2016 season were pitchers Travis Banwart, Sugar Ray Marimón, and Yohan Pino; and the holdover, hitter Andy Marte (Marimón and Pino were released mid-season, replaced by Josh Lowey and Ryan Feierabend).

Beginning in the 2017 season, the Wiz's allowed allotment of foreign players reverted to three to match the rest of the league.
