The Kalyana Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (KKRTC), is a state-owned public transport corporation of Karnataka, India.[1] It is wholly owned by the Government of Karnataka.[2] It serves routes to towns and cities in the North-Eastern part of Karnataka and connects it to the rest of the state and the states of Maharashtra, Goa, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. It offers online booking of tickets in association with Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation, its parent organisation.

To increase operational efficiency, to provide quality transport service to the travelling public and to have an effective supervision on the operations of the Corporation, the State Government divided KSRTC and carved out one more new Corporation called the North Eastern Karnataka Road Transport Corporation was also established to provide adequate, efficient, reliable and economically viable transport facility to the travelling public of the north eastern region of Karnataka State with effect from 15 August 2000 at Kalaburagi to cater to the north eastern districts of Karnataka, which became financially independent w.e.f. 01 October 2000. The North Eastern Karnataka Road Transport Corporation has been renamed as "Kalyana Karnataka Road Transport Corporation" by the State Government on 06 July 2021.[3]

The Corporation had 6 divisions, 26 Depots 74 bus stations, 82 wayside shelters, 26 city shelters and 2027 vehicles at the time of establishment. It was operated with 10,005 employees initially and 7.88 lac passengers were carried per day.[4]

The organization has grown tremendously since then. Currently (as on 2019-2020) the Corporation with headquarters at Kalaburagi, has 9 divisions, 53 depots, 152 bus stops, 971 Wayside Shelters and 160 City-Transport Shelters, Regional Workshop at Yadgir, Regional Training Center at Humanabad, Driver's Training Center at Hagaribommanahalli, Civil Engineering divisions at Kalaburgi and Ballari.[5] The Corporation currently having 20574 employees operates 4254 schedules with 4700 vehicles 13.87 lakh km per day carrying 13.58 lakh passengers. Inter-State services are being run for Maharashtra 434, Telangana 236, Andhra Pradesh 139, Tamil Nadu 2 and for Goa state 40.[6]
