Kanam is a Local Government Area in Plateau State, Nigeria. Its headquarters are in the town of Dengi.

It has an area of 2,600 km2 and a population of 165,898 at the 2006 census.

The postal code of the area is 940.[1]

The Boghom language and Jhar language[2] are spoken in the LGA.[3]

Kanam LGA has two (2) state constituencies in the Plateau State House of Assembly, namely: Dengi and Kantana.
