Kerewan (Gambia)

Kerewan is one of eight Local Government Areas in The Gambia. It is located on the north bank of the river Gambia; its boundaries are co-extensive with the former North Bank Division.
Kerewan is also the name of the Kerewan LGA’s largest town, which is 60 kilometers away from the capital Banjul. There is a small village in Jokadu called , seven kilometers away from Kerewan.
The population of the Kerewan LGA was 221,054 at the 2013 population census, with about two thousand seven hundred people in Kerewan town.
People in the Kerewan LGA are mainly known for agriculture and the main crops are groundnut, rice, maize, and millet.
