Kharkhari Lake (Urdu: خرخڑئی جھیل) also known as Kharkhari Danda (Pashto: خرخڑئی) in Pashto is an alpine glacial lake located in Gabral Valley to the north of Kalam Valley in Swat District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan. One can easily access it from Kalam via Passing Utror, Gabral Valley, Khu, Chota Jabba and reach Bahandra with a jeep or four-wheeler. From Bahandra hike trek to Kharkhari Lake start which takes up to 1 to 2 hours from Bahandra.[1] From Mahodand Lake, you can trek to Kharkhari Lake or also access the lake through 4×4 vehicles. The trek to Kharkhari Lake is just about 10–15 minutes.

Kharkhari lake some people called it Gabral Lake situated near Utror Gabral valley. As after 2010 flood roads are effected badly but the natural beauty of here will attract u to go further approximately 2 hour distance from utror valley mostly people use fielder car or 4x4 jeep to reach there. Nature here is just amazing especially stunning view of mountains I never ever seen a reflected water like this.[2]

Kharkhari Lake is in Gabral Swat. Unexplored Gem of nature at 12500 ft. This lake is 3 km after the end of the road and 3 days hike from here onward will lead to Chitral. Can be reached by hiring a vehicle from Kalam of about 3500 - 5000 Rs depending upon your negotiating skills can also be done on your own car to a point of 3 km before the lake. One has to pass from the towns of Utror and Gabral to reach the lake. the scenic beauty of the valley and surrounding areas is second to none . Travel time approx 3 hours. one can also find trees of walnut, apple, and pears throughout the way.[3]

A final one-kilometre walk takes one to the brink of the lake. Unlike Utror River, Kharkhari is calm. The hypnotic quietude is only interrupted every now and then by tourists who camp along its banks. The lake is predominantly blue with a hint of green which is highlighted by the sunlight filtering through the water surface.[4]
