Koi Jaane Na is a 2021 Indian Hindi-language psychological thriller film directed by Amin Hajee[1] and starring Kunal Kapoor and Amyra Dastur.[2] The film was theatrically released in India on 2 April 2021.[3]

Plot[]

The film starts with Kabir (Kunal Kapoor) in disguise trying to look for something or someone at a discotheque & in a scuffle kills a drug dealer, Vicky Singhania, with his own taser. Outside the police are planning a raid on the discotheque to get hold of Vicky & Kabir calmly walks away after the inspector on duty identifies him as the famous inspirational writer & blogger Kabir. Next, the court gives him 3 months of relief from the contractual obligation with a publishing house for whom Kabir had to deliver the second part of his bestseller within 6 months. Along with that, he has given exclusive rights to them, so he cannot write for any other publishing house. His ex-wife Rashmi(Vidya Malavade) is now married to the owner of this publishing house & wants to destroy Kabir & get the rest of his possession i.e. an ancestral home in Panchgani & his jeep which he is very fond of. She suspects that he is writing for someone else because earlier she had received almost his entire wealth in alimony & still he is able to lead a comfortable life. She employs a private detective Ricky Rosario () to investigate this.

On his way to Panchgani Kabir meets Suhana (Amyra Dastur) & he takes a liking to her. Suhana gets a job as a receptionist at a resort & also enjoys the company of Kabir. Soon they develop a romantic relationship. Here Ricky is thorough with his job & bribes heavily Bindia (Neha Mahajan) the daughter of Gardner of Kabir's home to entice him & also keep an eye on him. One day Ricky barges into Kabir's home when he is away with Suhana. On phone, Rashmi guides him to a secret room & asks him to check the room for any clues. Ricky finds a laptop hidden & is able to unlock & extract evidence to which proves that Kabir is the ghostwriter for the "Zaran Khan" novel series, which violates his agreement with his current publishing house. However, Ricky tells Rashmi that he was not able to unlock the laptop & he has found nothing of significance there.

Later he meets Kabir & tells him that he would not expose his secret if he pays him 3 times what Rashmi is paying. Deeply worried he first tells everything to Suhana & shows her his secret room. Instead of being angry, Suhana is much impressed with this & tells him that she has a plan to get him out of the mess. They meet Ricky & tell him that Kabir would reveal that Ricky is the Ghostwriter of Zaran Khan & he can take all the proceeds from the royalty of this series. Ricky outrightly rejects this & says that he wants cash & nothing else. Later that night he is found murdered on the highway & his phone crushed. Police Officer Ashwini Kalsekar investigating the murder considers Kabir as the prime suspect because Ricky had earlier registered a case of life threat against Kabir as a pre-emptive action to his blackmail plan. Suhana gives a false statement that she was with him during the time of the murder to the Police officer to save Kabir. Later she tells him tragic past she witnesses father in a drunken state killing his mother & sister. Later in the day, she is worried about Ricky's photographer friend who might expose Kabir's secret. She finds his studio's address & visits him that night. She sees that inside he is talking with a man describing his blackmailing techniques & suddenly the other man slashes his throat. The mysterious man comes out & threatens Suhana to shut her mouth or he would eliminate her along with Kabir.

Later when Kabir meets he takes her home & on the way they see a crowd. Kabir halts to check & finds about the murder & Suhana quietly collects her hair clip which she had lost there earlier. When they return home the Police officer is already investigating his secret room & when Kabir narrates the entire story to her she is convinced that only Kabir has a motive for both the murders. Kabir explains to her that he has already worked out a solution with his lawyer & they would backdate his contracts for the Zaran Khan series to escape the mess & he has already revealed his identity on his blog. Since there is no evidence she cannot arrest him & asks both of them to visit her office the next day. The next day Suhana tells Kabir that she has witnessed the second murder & Kabir encourages her to report this to the police. As they approach the police station Suhana sees the murderer coming out of the police station & ask Kabir to drive away. Kabir drops her at her workplace & visits the police station to find out about the killer. The officer in charge tells him that the person who left the police station is Dr Rao (Atul Kulkarni) from St. Paul's hospital in Bangalore who was first arrested for molestation charges but they let him go because the said victim withdrew her complaint.

Kabir finds out that St Paul's hospital is actually a mental asylum & Dr Rao has left to search for a patient. Finally, there is a faceoff of Suhana with Dr Rao & she snatches the gun from the Police officer & threatens to kill him. Kabir intervenes & reveals to her that she is the patient Dr Rao is looking for. It is now revealed that Suhana had earlier killed her father on that fateful night & suffered schizophrenia post that incident. She is treated by Dr Rao & one day she runs away from the hospital when a staff member tries to molest her. Later her condition deteriorates because she has not taken her medicines. In such a condition when Kabir is threatened by Ricky, her alter ego takes over & she commits these 2 murders. Kabir is able to calm her down & she surrenders herself. Later she is shown to be recovering at St Paul's hospital & Kabir meets her every day. Dr Rao and officer discuss about the two and Dr Rao tells the officer that Suhana is getting better, also that charges against Suhana have been dropped due to her mental condition and by next week, Kabir might be able to take her home. However, the officer is not convinced as she tells Dr Rao that the case is not over for her yet as the murders in Zaraan Khan’s novels have actually taken place and she is sure Kabir is infact Zaraan Khan and once Suhana is released, Suhana and Kabir might become a dangerous and powerful duo. Though Dr Rao tells her that Kabir is simply a writer, the officer is not convinced and leaves telling Dr Rao that they will meet again. After she leaves, Dr Rao thinks about her words while looking at Kabir and Suhana.
