Kotanai Khwazakhela (Urdu: کوٹنئ, Pashto: کوٹنی) is an administrative unit, known as Union council, of Swat District in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan. District Swat has 9 Tehsils i.e. Khwazakhela, Kabal, Madyan, Barikot, Mingora, and Kalam. Each Tehsill comprises certain numbers of union councils. There are 65 union councils in district Swat, 56 rural and 09 urban.

The famous Pakhtoon tribe living in Kotanai are Mandokhel. The head of the tribe are Masam khan Malak, Pirjan khan Malak, Pirdad khan Malak, Mahbat khan, Muhammad Ayub khan,Yaqoob khan,Qayum Khan,Muhammad Naeem khan.

The famous Gravyard are Nya abai & shahabuddin serai.

The famous personalities are Khursheed khan ( DIG SWAT), Khurshid khan son of Muhammad Ayub Khan & Grand son of Masam Khan Malak, Aman ullah khan (Nazim) Grand son of Pirjan khan malak, Engr Azaz Ali Shah Khan Son of Khurshid khan & Grandson of Muhammad Ayub khan.
