Kozhi Koovuthu is a 1982 Indian Tamil-language film, directed by Gangai Amaran in his debut.[2] The film has music by Ilaiyaraaja, cinematography by P. S. Nivas, edited by B. Lenin, and starring Prabhu, Suresh, Silk Smitha and Viji. The film was remade in Telugu as Veerabhadrudu.

Plot[]

{{Velusamy is a macho man and everybody in the villager fears him for his rude and offensive talks, but Velusamy is good at heart and helpful to needy. Ramakrishna, an orphan comes gets appointed as postman in this rural community of Anaikaraipatti. Kamakshi, Vellaathaayi's daughter initially misunderstands Ramakrishna and have tiffs with him. Vellathaayi, Velusamy's elder sister insists on him to have his livelihood as she wishes arrange her daughter's marriage with him, but villagers oppose the same and insults Velusamy. Notwithstanding the insult, Velusamy promises to prove himself and the villagers of his worth, joins Military. Rest of the Story forms what happens to the relationship between them.}}

Kozhi Koovuthu is the directorial debut of Gangai Amaran. The title was suggested by his brother Ilaiyaraaja.[4] Editing was handled by B. Lenin.[5]

Soundtrack[]

The music was composed by Ilaiyaraaja.[6] The song "Edho Moham Edho Dhagam" is set in the carnatic raga known as Nayaki,[7] and "Poove Ilaiya Poove" is set to Sankarabharanam.[8] "Annae Annae" is the only filmi song sung by Samuel Grubb.[9]
