The parallel lead role in Ekta Kapoor's daily soap Yeh Hai Mohabbatein, a Star Plus programme, which Mukherjee joined in 2016 marked a turning point in her career and proved to be her breakthrough role.[4] Her portrayal of Aliya Sharma opposite Abhishek Verma and Abhishek Malik was praised and she continued to act in it, before the series went off air in December 2019.[5] Simultaneously alongside shoot of Yeh Hai Mohabbatein, she also signed a negative role in another Kapoor production, the supernatural revenge thriller Naagin 3 where she appeared in its last few episodes.[6] She entered the show in May 2019 as Taamsi.[7] With the show's end in the same month, her character of Taamsi was killed in its finale episode.[8]

2021–present: Comeback with Kuch Toh Hai

After the culmination of Yeh Hai Mohabbatein in December 2019, Mukherjee took a small hiatus from acting.[9] In January 2021, it was announced that her comeback show will be another Kapoor supernatural thriller series Kuch Toh Hai: Naagin Ek Naye Rang Mein, shortly known as Kuch Toh Hai, a spin-off of Naagin 5.[10] It went on air in February featuring her as Priya Singhania opposite Harsh Rajput.
