Lasiobema scandens is a species of 'monkey ladder' lianas in the subfamily Cercidoideae and the tribe Bauhinieae,[1] the genus having been separated from Bauhinia[2] but possibly synonymous with Phanera (see under genus). Under its synonym, Bauhinia scandens, records exist from the Indian subcontinent, Indo-China and Malesia.[3][4][5][6][7][8] The Catalogue of Life[9] listed two varieties which remain valid:

  • Lasiobema scandens var. horsfieldii (Miq.) de Wit
    - Vietnamese name móng bò leo[10]
  • L. scandens var. scandens (L.) de Wit
